Constant variation in structure and function of geometrical isomers of acitretin under natural light.
Acitretin, a beneficial retinoid, was shown to undergo constant structural interconversions among its geometrical isomers (all-trans-acitretin, 9-cis-acitretin, 13-cis-acitretin, 9, 13-di-cis-acitretin, etc.) by photoisomerization under natural light. The photoisomerization was zero order reaction with an apparent velocity of 4x107 M/min under illumination by white fluorescent lamps (1, 200 lx)...
متن کاملEffect of vitamin E and Acitretin combination on decreasing side effects of Acitretin
Background: Acitretin therapy is frequently associated with reversible, dose-related side effects. Recent studies claimed that combining vitamin E with high-dose isotretinoin reduced isotretinoin-induced side effects. Objective: The purpose of this clinical trial study was to determine the effect of a fixed or adjusted dose of vitamin E on the side effects of acitretin. Patients and Methods: Fi...
متن کاملAcitretin, a systemic retinoid for the treatment of psoriasis – current state of knowledge
Acitretin, a synthetic retinoid, is a pharmacologically active metabolite of etretinate. It replaced etretinate for the treatment of severe psoriasis (e.g. psoriatic erythrodermia and pustular psoriasis) because of its more favourable pharmacokinetic profile. Acitretin is 50 times less lipophilic than etretinate and has a shorter elimination half-life. However, there is evidence that small amou...
متن کاملTreatment Of Congenital Ichthyosis With Acitretin
We assessed the clinical efficacy, tolerability and safety of acitretin in a patient with ichthyosis. A newborn infant with ichthyosis who presented at birth with collodion baby appearance, was treated with acitretin. A moderate response to acitretin therapy (1 mg/kg/day) administered for 6 months was observed, with improvement in cutaneous lesions. Clinical improvement was achieved shortly aft...
متن کاملAcitretin for the management of generalized cutaneous lichen planus.
BACKGROUND Lichen planus is an inflammatory disease that affects the skin, the oral mucosa, or both.
